Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh (Tango) to be released worldwide
If you have a Windows Phone 7 powered device, the only big question on your mind will be whether you phone will any kind of update to the operating system it is running. There is the new Windows Phone 8 waiting to be released to the Windows Phone world in the near future, and an intermediate version, the Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh, code named Tango, has also been released. But will your phone get any of these? Well, you can kind of relax on this one question.
It is being said that Microsoft has decided to release the intermediate version, that is the Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh, to all the current Windows Phone 7 devices in the world. This will probably include your phone and also your tablet. But don’t get too happy already. There is one more barrier in your way of getting the update on your phone, and that is your carrier.
If your phone is locked to a carrier, your carrier should approve the update and seed to it to over the air. So if the carrier has any objection, the carrier may delay it until the objection has been taken off. In the worst case scenario, the update may even be cancelled altogether. This, if happens, is bad for sure.
But if your phone is not locked to any carrier and is unlocked, you will get the update as soon as Microsoft seeds it online for your region. Microsoft believes that by the end of June, over 90% of the current Windows Phone 7 devices in the market will be getting the update to Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh.
Even if you do not get this update, you do not have to worry a lot. This is just a minor update and will not change the user experience by a great deal. You just need to worry if you will get the next major update, Windows Phone 8, code named Apollo, or not. Keep your eyes open for any related news.
