Apple has launched, today, a new range of Macbook Air, a new MacBook Pro with Retina Display, an update to OS X Mountain Lion and new iOS 6 which is available now in beta mode for the company’s developers. Here are the main points from the Apple WWDC 2012 event:
About iOS 6:
-iOS 6 is available for developers starting now.
-the navigation can be done “turn by turn” – Siri “reads” the directions.
-The application is 3D – through zoom you can view buildings.
-A demo of the new Maps is in progress.
-The application is able to warn you about traffic incidents, the most important is that Maps is integrated with Siri. Now the maps application is presented from Apple: Maps.
-Passbook is a new feature that lets you store all the QR code “tickets” in one place. Moreover, the application knows in what place you entered (eg cinema) and brings to the iPhone screen the right ticket.
-A new feature is VIP – an application through which you can choose people from your agenda whose notifications you really don’t want to miss.
-In total, Apple representatives say, there are over 200 updates in iOS 6.
-iOS brings FaceTime on phones with Apple ID and phone number integration.
-There are definite improvements brought to the new iOS applications.
-Moreover, Facebook is integrated with Siri. Facebook integration is also present in iOS 6.
-Siri arrives on the new iPad!
-Siri is now compatible with more languages.
-Apple is working with several automakers to implement Siri in cars.
-Through Siri you can start applications using voice control (e.g. games).
-Siri knows what restaurants are closer to the user, which movies run at certain cinemas and can even play movies trailers.
-Siri received a number of improvements, especially in the sport “knowledge” department.
The improvements to iOS 6 and Siri are extraordinary if you are able to see them first hand, and through these improvements Apple hopes to catch up to Google.
