As the high profile legal battle between Apple and Samsung is proceeding in the Courts, the side effects have started to show. A few days back court documents brought out to the public, dozens of images of Apple’s prototype devices, which otherwise would have never been revealed to the public. It is now Samsung’s turn have its plans revealed. The Verge has got its hands on court documents which show future Windows Phone 8 devices from Samsung and even a huge, 11.8 inch tablet that the company is working on.
There are two Windows Phone 8 devices which we might see from Samsung’s stable, code named Odyssey and Marco. Both these LTE smartphones are expected to debut sometime in the fourth quarter, the same time Windows Phone 8 is expected to make its appearance. As for the specs, both phones seem to be high-end dual core devices. The Odyssey will comes with a “4.65-inch Super AMOLED display with HD resolution and an 8-megapixel rear camera” The Verge says the Odyssey will also be NFC capable, which would mean it will be able to take advantage of the Wallet Hub and Tap + Send features that Windows Phone 8 is expected to possess. The Marco seems to be the lower priced one among the two and could be seen with a “4-inch S-AMOLED display with WVGA resolution and a 5-megapixel rear camera”
The big revelation is the giant 11.8 inch tablet that Samsung is working on. According to the documents, this tablet will sport the Retina display, with a display resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and a pixel density of 256 ppi. The instinctive comparison with the iPad shows that the Apple’s tablet is slightly ahead in the pixel density department with 264 ppi but at more than an inch smaller, it has a lower resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels.
These are just the beginning of what could be a sea of new revelations as the court proceedings go on.
