SSC Ultimate Aero’s Last Hurrah, Special Edition XT
SSC has officially announced that it will end the production of the Ultimate Aero supercar and it plans to say good bye with style, by producing the Special Edition XT model
The Ultimate Aero is a legendary American supercar coming from the West Richland, Washington based SSC or Shelby Supercars. The Ultimate Aero is best known for the recording braking top speed it achieved back in 2007. By reaching a top speed of 255 mph, it surpassed the top speed of the previous record holder, the original Bugatti Veyron.
Five years have since passed and the Ultimate Aero’s Guinness Book of World Records performance was reclaimed by the European Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. Now, the Ultimate Aero’s successor, the Tuatara will hit production this year and it is all set to get the production car top speed title, back to the U.S.
Meanwhile, SSC will retire the Ultimate Aero by bringing out a final limited, Special Edition XT model, which only five lucky owners on Earth will ever own. The Special Edition XT will be powered by a 6.9 liter V8, all aluminium, twin-turbocharged, dual-intercooled engine. The V8 will pump out a massive 1300 bhp at just 6800 RPM and 9,200 RPM redline. This monster engine will produce 1004 lb-ft of torque which will propel this four wheeled, 2800 lbs (1270 kg) missile from 0-62 mph or 100 kmph in just 2.65 seconds and will push it to a top speed of 273 mph or 439 kmph.
The Ultimate Aero XT will be ultra exclusive. Not only are just five examples being produced, SSC has also announced that each car will come with a paint job unique to itself and no other vehicle coming from SSC in the future will ever wear the same colors. No words on the pricing yet, not that we can afford one.
